Making your donation go further - ‘Gift Aid It!’
Gift Aid allows us as a charity to claim from the Inland Revenue tax paid on a donation made by any tax-paying donor. As the current basic rate of income tax is 22%, this means that we can claim an extra 28p for every £1 you actually give us.
As long as you are an UK taxpayer all you have to do is to fill in and sign a simple Gift Aid Declaration.
Do I have to make more than one donation?
No. Although we would benefit from a regular donation there is no obligation at all for you to do this. Each single pound attracts an extra 28p.
What
if I’ve made another donation in the past?
Tax
on any donation you have made since April 6th, 2000 can also be claimed
as long as you made it by cheque, Standing Order or Direct Debit so that
it may be verified.
What
about future donations I might want to make?
Once
you have completed the Gift Aid Declaration, any subsequent donations
you make will automatically qualify for reclaiming tax.
What
if I’m a higher rate taxpayer?
If
you pay tax at the higher rate, currently 40%, you can also claim tax
relief for yourself of 18% of your gross donation (this is the difference
between the standard rate and the higher rate).
What
if I’m no longer a taxpayer?
We
will write to you at the end of every financial year that you made a donation
to us. As long as you are a taxpayer you will need to keep this letter
if you have to fill in a tax form. If your circumstances change so that
you no longer pay tax it is important that you let us know as soon as
possible so that we do not make any further claims on your donations.
How
can I make my donation?
Donations
can be made by cheque, payable to ‘Llanberis Mountain Rescue’.
If you want to make a regular donation then we could set up a Standing
Order or Direct Debit. Click on the link below to open the Gift Aid Declaration.
Print off the form and send it to the address shown in the contact details.
Thank you.
How
can I make my donation online?
It is now possible to donate money online and at the same time make the
gift aid declaration. To do this you need to visit www.justgiving.co.uk/llanberismountainrescueteam
